Climate change continues to threaten communities in Muleba District, with rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and soil erosion affecting both livelihoods and the environment. Children and schools are among those most affected, as degraded surroundings reduce access to shade, clean air, and fertile land. Without urgent action, the future of these young learners, and the communities they live in, remains at risk.

In response, Kwa Wazee has taken a proactive step by engaging 10 primary schools, in tree planting activities across Muleba District. Partnering with childrens, teachers, local leaders, and environmental experts, the initiative aims to reduce the effects of climate change while instilling a culture of environmental responsibility among the younger generation. 12000 tree seedlings, including fruit trees and indigenous species, were planted within school compounds, turning once bare grounds into budding green spaces.

The impact of this initiative has been immediate and inspiring. Students expressed excitement at being part of a project that contributes to the fight against climate change. They now take pride in caring for the seedlings, viewing them as symbols of their role in protecting the planet. Parents and community members, too, welcomed the program, recognizing its potential to provide long-term benefits such as improved soil fertility, fresh fruit, and healthier surroundings.

By linking education with climate action, Kwa Wazee is empowering the next generation to be environmental stewards. The trees planted today will not only provide shade and nourishment but also stand as a living reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard the earth.

Each tree planted is a step towards reducing the harsh effects of climate change, strengthening resilience, and building a greener, healthier future for children and communities in Muleba District.
