Gender Equality and Protection
We are committed to promoting gender equality and protecting vulnerable groups from violence, discrimination, and social exclusion. Older women, in particular, often face multiple layers of marginalisation, poverty, ageism, and gender-based violence, which leave them at greater risk of abuse and neglect. Our programs are designed to challenge these injustices while equipping older people and children with the knowledge and support they need to live in safety and dignity.
We provide self-protection training that empowers older women and other vulnerable individuals with practical skills to recognise, prevent, and respond to violence or exploitation. These trainings also build confidence and resilience, enabling participants to advocate for their rights within their families and communities.
Through awareness campaigns, Kwa Wazee engages communities in open dialogue about gender equality, respect for older people, and the harmful impact of gender-based violence. By working with community leaders, families, and young people, we help to break harmful cycles of silence, stigma, and discrimination.
We also create safe spaces for older people and children, where they can access psychosocial support, share experiences, and build mutual care networks. These spaces foster healing, solidarity, and protection while ensuring that no one is left to face violence or discrimination alone.
We work to build communities where older people, especially women, are valued, respected, and safe. Our commitment is to a society that upholds dignity, equality, and justice for all generations.
