Youth Empowerment

Kwa Wazee recognises the vital role young people play in shaping stronger, more resilient communities. Yet, many face challenges such as poverty, unemployment, stigma, and limited access to opportunities. Our youth programs are designed to provide both practical support and psychosocial care, ensuring that young people are equipped to lead healthy, productive, and hopeful lives.

One of our core approaches is to strengthen youth livelihoods through agriculture. We support group-based projects by providing seeds, livestock, and training, enabling young people to develop sustainable sources of income while improving local food security. By 2023, Kwa Wazee had distributed 350 goats, 51 sheep, 425 chickens, 66 pigs, 61 rabbits, 11 ducks, and 25 beehives, directly benefiting youth groups and their families. These initiatives not only enhance household resilience but also foster teamwork and collective responsibility.

We also prioritise the needs of young people living with HIV, aged 10–24, who often face stigma and mental health struggles alongside their health challenges. Kwa Wazee provides comprehensive support, including sexual and reproductive health education, HIV prevention services, counselling, and mental health care. In addition, we equip youth with livelihood skills training, helping them secure a brighter future beyond survival.

Kwa Wazee empowers young people to overcome barriers, embrace their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
